How to Market Like a Teenage Girl on MySpace

by Jim Yaghi on February 8th, 2008

Sick of MySpace? So was I until I learned these 5 naughty tricks that teenage girls use on MySpace. Here’s another practical demonstration of how to use MySpace to get free MLM leads for “Building on a Budget“.

Boy, can you imagine the look of disappointment on my face?

MySpace receives more monthly hits than Google! A total of 30 billion page views every month.

If you’re a Google expert I know what you’re thinking. “Yeah right, that’s just 30 billion views of pimple-faced girls making kissy faces into mobile phone cams”.

That’s the excuse I’d been telling myself after I’d spent months of my life mastering Adwords and SEO. But it’s a terrible excuse.

More than half of MySpace visitors are over 35. They have lots of money and they are happy to spend it online.

All mine and your efforts on Google would never touch them. MySpace users aren’t like anyone else online. They really use very little of the rest of the web.

I’d been advertising to Google because I thought everyone used it. As it turns out, there are MySpace internet “creatures” that don’t even say good morning to Google when they first turn on their browser at work.

I put away my lame excuses. “I need a piece of this spending web”, I thought. “If only I knew how to use MySpace like a teenage girl”.

Using MySpace Like a Teenage Girl

When I was growing up, using a computer was nerdy. But as I came into my mid-20’s, even the “cool kids” were meeting someone for the first time and saying, “Hey, do you have MySpace or MSN?”

The pick-up artists aren’t trying to get a girl’s “digits” anymore. Now it’s all about the screen name on AIM or MySpace.

But none are so skilled at making a lot of friends online as teens are.

You might think the MySpace boom has come and gone. Guess again. Over the next 6-12 months, the Internet will continue to change really quickly. That’s because of a fast adapting younger generation.

Some of these kids boast as many as 2,000 contacts! And if you hope to ever market as fast as a teenage girl creates a friend network in MySpace - you’d better learn these skills.

Waaaaaaaait!

Put your spy goggles away. Don’t go CIA on your daughter’s MySpace conversations.

This trend’s been going on long enough that adults in their 20s have either caught on, or like my 18-year-old brother, grown along with the trend.

My Friends Are MySpace Junkies

My friends are MySpace junkies. They come to visit my computer, not me.

As soon as they arrive, they mumble, “I’m just going to check my MySpace”. These guys literally live online and need to be connected at all times.

Even after I pry their claw-fingers off my keyboard an hour later, they’ll spend the rest of their visit sending text messages. They’ll interrupt any conversation with me to take incoming mobile calls from their MySpace buddies.

Mind you, I’m more mad because they seem to find those MySpace folks cooler than me.

When my visitor finally gets The Call, he announces that he’s off to meet “this hot chick”. But before he leaves, I have to sit through 23 kissy-face poses.

There are devious secrets.

One secret, I learned from my friend’s youngest sister. It was so evil, I couldn’t help but steal it.

Master these tricks and you’ll have all the leads you want, targeted, and absolutely free.

“I Don’t Want to Pick Up From MySpace!”

Teenage girls want to build a “hot guy” network.

Their profile is the tool they use to market themselves to their target market.

Obviously you’re not interested in building a “hot guy” network on MySpace. But what do we want to market? Building on a Budget?

Before we press ahead, understand that people on MySpace are there to socialise and have a good time.

No, you cannot enter their social world as a marketer. You WILL offend them and they’ll choose not to talk to you.

Are you kidding me? Trying to sell to a person who’s mad at you? Not a chance.

I know you want to market Building on a Budget, but first we have to attract the right target audience. Instead of a “hot guy” network, we want to build a network of entrepreneurs.

Let’s blend in and be social. Let’s use our profile to market ourselves to Network Marketers.

Naughty Trick 1: The Profile Photo

A MySpace profile without a photo? Don’t bother. You’ll be THE most unpopular MySpace kid.

It’s the absolute first thing anyone sees when you add them. I’m talking about the default profile photo.

An experienced MySpace guy uses his best photo. You know, the latest one of him shirtless leaning against his Japanese sport car, with flexed abs?

That photo is the most important item on your profile.

If they don’t like that picture, or worse, if you don’t have one at all, there’s a good chance your request won’t even be opened.

But don’t take shirtless photos. This is a professional MySpace page where you’ll network with your subscribers, clients, and employees.

Use a professionally taken, smiling, high resolution photo of your face. Wear power colours and look straight into the camera. This automatically makes you “good looking”, even if you’re not, because people are attracted to others who smile and appear to have authority.

Naughty Trick 2: Make an Attractive MySpace Profile

When you request a connection with a new contact, don’t take it for granted they’ll just look at your profile picture preview and then accept your invitation.

They’ll click through to your profile to see if they LIKE you first.

That’s why teenage girls create attractive profiles that grab attention fast: Animations and video attract eyeballs, background audio forces you to start listening, and slideshows showcase all their photos.

MySpace pages are rarely ever well made. But people don’t care, as long as there are a lot of interesting photos. And that’s how they “sell” themselves to one another.

They know to attract the opposite sex they need photos in certain poses and outfits. This is how they show their value to potential visitors of their profile.

You want the attention of Network Marketers.

Could you begin with a quote from a motivational speaker like Jim Rohn? Or could you show off some of your lifestyle photos of your travels? Maybe you should use photos of your cars and toys.

But nothing is more effective than relating an experience your MySpace visitors will identify with. Careful not to give a review or a testimonial about your product, though.

I’m a student of marketing as well as a teacher. That’s what I talk about.

Listen, you’re a Network and Internet Marketer. This is what you do. Try to think back to your pre-marketing days and talk like you would about your hobby, career, or studies.

Command attention fast by creating simple, attractive, and fun profile layouts. There are many customisations you can easily make.

On your profile page, find a natural way to refer to your products and link the reference to the sales letter.

For example, you could say, “I had a lot of trouble marketing my home business because I didn’t have money to spend. Last week I discovered this video series and I’m hoping it’s the answer I need. *fingers crossed*”

See how I’m relating an experience as a student of marketing. Notice how I’m promoting myself as a fun and valuable friend to have. I put an image in your head of a comical me with crossed fingers. And maybe you smile.

You want to be my friend, right?

Naughty Trick 3: The *Evilest* of All

My friend’s baby sister did the strangest thing.

She was really proud of the 2,000 “friends” on her MySpace profile. And she loved to tell me and her brother her online adventures.

One day I noticed her browsing through girls’ profiles and adding them to her contact list.

But not just any girls. She always picked the prettiest one on someone’s friends list, requested a connection, and then browsed through that list of friends.

Curiosity got the better of me and I asked, “Hey, Dana, how come you’re browsing the friends list for that girl?”

“The prettiest girls always have the most guys,” she said with a smile. “See, I get on her list and now I can make friends with all her guy friends.”

How incredibly genius!

Of course it didn’t occur to me right away to use her idea for marketing. But can we adapt this naughty trick to strategically build a friend network of targeted “leads” on MySpace?

It’s a shortcut, isn’t it?

You find someone else who already attracts your target market and make friends with them and their network of friends.

That’s how we meet people in social situations. You make friends with someone and as your relationship develops, they introduce you to their circle of friends. And you introduce them to yours.

Network marketing gurus, leaders, authors, and celebrities always attract a massive circle of Network Marketers.

Go ahead and browse the friends list of Randy Gage, for example. There’s a good chance you’ll find Agel reps in his downline, crossline, and upline. You’ll find other Network Marketers who bought his prospecting CDs. You’ll even find the internet marketers who bought his home study copyrighting course.

Does that sound like your target audience for Building on a Budget?

I hope you’re nodding.

Naughty Trick 4: Be Genuinely Social.

You better be prepared to be social.

Don’t just add all of Randy Gage’s friends. Send a short message along with your request.

This teenage trick is straightforward and you may be tempted to ignore it because it sounds like work. But here’s why you need it:

Every once in a while you run into a spoilt MySpace creature. This one has been bugged by so many people online that they now claim to only add people they know.

If they see your display picture and don’t recognise you, they’ll deny your request to make a connection. Yes, and you guessed it, they won’t visit your profile either.

By sending a private message along with your request, you automatically get a second chance to have them visit your page. No one can resist checking a personal message written to them.

Think about how you itch to answer your mobile when the caller’s ID is blocked. Or how you can’t resist opening a letter addressed to you even if you don’t know the sender. Right?

And if you’ve done your job right and written a good personal message, that person will write back to you. You MUST always respond.

They’re Network Marketers like you. Chances are they’re facing the same problems you did before.

You’ve got a lot in common and you’re more experienced which gives you automatic value. And that’s attractive.

Naughty Trick 5: Get Their Attention Again and Again.

This was a pretty crazy trick I first noticed in Facebook and Bebo. It works on MySpace’s “Friend Updates” module too.

So listen carefully.

Every time you change something on your profile, your current list of contacts sees an alert telling them about the latest changes that you made to your profile.

MySpacers often delete one of their own photos and then upload it again.

Guess why?

Every time they put the photo up again, all of their contacts will see a preview of it on their own profiles. This is a naughty trick that gets their friends to visit or revisit the profile to see the “new” photo.

That rekindles interest from people who added them before but didn’t maintain a relationship.

In MySpace you can make bulletin posts, comment on people’s profiles and photos, change your mood in your profile, blog in your MySpace blog, and update your photos.

Want a second chance to get people to view your Building on a Budget videos?

Regularly use all of these tools to bring your social Network Marketer contacts back to your profile.

How to Use Free Web 2.0 and Search Engine Traffic to *Stuff* Your Inbox With Free MLM Leads Quickly

by Jim Yaghi on January 14th, 2008

The secret to getting hundreds of free Network Marketing leads and sales every day is to start small and to always leverage your efforts.

Most traffic methods are easy enough to get small short-term results with. But the real challenge is to turn those results into repeating long-term ones.

Say you write an article in an ezine like ezinearticles.com. The day you get published, you’ll get 1, 3, or maybe even 5 leads. But if you don’t turn some heads quickly, the results will stop the next day.

A well-written press release submitted to 24-7pressrelease.com might send you 40 leads for your MLM opportunity in a single day. But on its own will rarely bring you any more after that.

Your MySpace profile or YouTube video may bring your Home Business a few leads if you have a lot of friends in your network, but it will take forever to put your video in front of enough people to make it worthwhile the effort.

Without a way to accumulate the effect of multiple MLM lead generation sources, it’s going to take forever to get leads, customers, and distributors, right?

Smart Network Marketers online find ways to leverage their consistent efforts and they compound them on top of each other.

For example, while some people might create a single YouTube video and post it and wait for a decent number of views to generate MLM Leads–smart Network Marketers find ways to reuse the video which took them a lot of time and effort to create.

So they bookmark their video with del.icio.us, a social bookmarking site. Then they “digg” it at digg.com. Then they create a lens at squidoo.com and embed their YouTube video there as well.

This exposes their video to views from other networks of people who they wouldn’t have had access to before.

But guess what happens now?

The people on YouTube who saw the video will leave some comments and leave feedback. They’ll talk about it and share it with their friends. People on digg.com who come across your “dugg” video will discuss it in digg with their friends and refer THEIR networks. The same happens with people on del.icio.us and Squidoo.

But why stop there?

These online MLM Home Business marketers post their video on their Wordpress blog and add it to their MySpace profile to get even more exposure in more of their networks.

And if they’re using Google Adwords to promote their capture page, well, they may as well embed their video on their capture page and make it autoplay. After all, they’re getting a lot of clicks that cost them money anyway and not all of them opt-in or buy.

Why not turn those clicks into useful “view count” on YouTube?

Yes! YouTube will count the number of views your video gets wherever it’s embedded. And the more views it gets, the more YouTube thinks it’s popular and starts to recommend it on the front page and as “related video” when prospects are watching similar videos post by others!

Not only that–but the people who notice your popular video start blogging about it and embedding it in their Google Adsense blogs. Their visitors start to discussed it and leave comments too.

Finally, the Search Engine giants like Google and Yahoo start to see all these related discussions and comments around the simple video. Now they start sending targeted MLM leads right to you because they’re ranking your page as some pretty relevant content to anyone searching for information on Network Marketing.

And all of this started with a single video.

But most Network Marketers write one article and stop. Post one video and stop. Then they wonder why they get no leads for their Home Business.

Do you realise the potential to generate enormous numbers of MLM leads by leveraging a single lead generation effort with cross-promotion? Can you see how you can create a snowball effect of piles of cash, product sales, and distributor enrolments–simply by leveraging the networks and contents of millions of other people?

Why You Should *Stop* MLM Recruiting

by Jim Yaghi on January 14th, 2008

Do you ever wake up and can’t be bothered going to work? Do you think how much money you’ve wasted on petrol driving to work?

Probably, yeah?

But do you then decide not to go or not to spend money on petrol any more and expect to keep your job?

No. You’ll get fired.

Your primary source of income depends on you doing things you don’t necessarily like or want to do. Why do you do them? Because you have to.

Network Marketers forget that their expensive hobby of a business is a second profession they’re hoping to replace their income with. This is not some money game or get-rich-quick scheme we’re talking about.

This will, one day, be your PRIMARY source of income for years to come. Just like your job.

If you’re not willing to do the “work” every day, pack your Magnetic Sponsoring and your business kit in your basement, get off the computer and go do some fun stuff with your few hours of freedom after work.

For those of you who are looking to brute-force your way to riches, you’re wasting your time chasing dreams. Stop trying to recruit people to do all the work for you. Stop looking for someone to give you a free ride. Stop running your mouth spewing out what someone else said and expecting people to flock to you.

It’s like trying to tell someone how to bake a cake when you’ve never baked one before in your life.

Take your eyes off recruiting reps, this is not the goal. Remember, it’s not a money game. If all you do is recruit, recruit, and recruit what are you doing? You’re just getting people to buy in and teaching them to do the same.

No.

Learn to market your company’s product or a how-to like Magnetic Sponsoring. Do this until you’ve absolutely mastered it and you’re making a small income from it.

Eventually, you’re going to find you’ve hit a ceiling on your income. You can’t generate enough leads or you’re running out of time with the few hours you have after work.

This is when you should begin recruiting.

But now you have a selling point. You can genuinely show a brand new distributor exactly the method or system you’re using to generate your leads. You can show them how you’re making sales so that THEY too can make a small income.

When you’ve mastered marketing profitably, your prospects will flock to join you in your primary MLM company. Because now they can see that the business makes sense as a BUSINESS not some scammy “pyramid thing”.

Not only that, but you’re going to be building long-term business partners who will remain with you, because they’re profiting.

Finally, when you’ve built your business on selling the company’s products, although the progress is slower–your customers are loyal forever. As long as your product continues to deliver the benefits they buy it for, they’ll keep buying and paying you residual, passive income.

Stop worrying about how to recruit distributors expecting them do all the work for you. Stop expecting your prospects to save you from having to learn anything.

Learn to market, it’s your future profession.

MLM Online Recruiting Systems

by Jim Yaghi on December 24th, 2007

Let me ask you something. Who’s most likely to join your business and soak up everything your business opportunity has to offer:

Your couch potato mate, your doctor, your lawyer–whoever is happy just doing the 9-5…

or

Someone who attends seminars on wealth creation and bought The One Minute Millionaire, Think and Grow Rich, and Rich Dad Poor Dad?

I hope you chose the second option. Because anyone actively looking for and buying information on success, business, and wealth is ready to take action.

Why?

Well, imagine your friend, doctor, pastor, or whoever else is on your 100 names list…

Most people think they got it all figured out: They think, to make more money, they just have to work harder, more hours, get a better paying job, find ways to rip off welfare, or deal drugs.

Great plan. huh? :P

You know better of course. So you come along and try to convince them that forking up a few hundred bucks to join your business is the solution they need:

  • You meet them..like 12 times.
  • You give them sales materials to look at which, no matter how brief, they never get around to reading.
  • You even finally manage to get them to meet your upline

And at last, you convince them to join you. Hey it’s possible to excite anyone about big, “easy” money, right?

But look at how much effort it took to enrol one person. And for what?

After they buy the business, they don’t do a thing. Here’s your measly $200 fast-start bonus which took you all month to earn.

That’s all.

To make another $200, you have to do it over again.

Now multiply that effort by 8. Every week. Forever.

Because there will never be any leverage. Working a job is easier and less humiliating.

You don’t want that, do you?

Good. Now that we’re on the same page we agree that from now on you will only ever want to recruit people who are actively looking for information on business.

How to Only Recruit Prospects Who Want To Own a Business

If your ideal prospect usually looks for information on success and wealth–doesn’t it make sense to offer exactly that?

Why?

First of all, it gives them a reason to come to you. To look for you.

But remember, even online prospects are humans. They will only buy or follow your advice when they like you, respect you, and trust you.

You have to become friends with your prospect first.

Every MLM leader has become very good at making friends easily and quickly.

Meaning, they know how to turn “cold market” prospects into “warm market” prospects–FIRST.

The difference between a friend and a stranger is that you “talk” with a friend about things you have in common often.

When you choose the information to share with your ideal prospects, you have to select it so that it creates a “common ground” where you can both “talk” without an agenda.

But the information you share or discuss with your new friend needs to be entertaining and interesting to them.

I mean, I’m sure you have friends you enjoy hearing from or receiving phone calls from–and then you have other “friends” you avoid.

To be the friend that your prospects want to hear from, your information must be valuable.

The quality of friend/prospect you get will be closely tied to the type of information you share, or conversations you have.

That’s why I NEVER cater to weakness when recruiting. Neither should you.

What were you searching for when you discovered Lead Traffic Jam?

I bet you were like I was months ago - looking for solutions on the internet to help you grow your downline instead of complaining about how ‘this doesn’t work’.

Were you looking for training, prospecting tips, or leads?

I don’t really know how you got here, but whatever it was, I know you’re reading this right now because you’re a leader.

And that’s the kind of person you want to build a friendship with. That is the type of person you want to work with.

When these people like you, respect your expertise, and trust you, they too will want to work with you.

“What Kind of Information Should I Offer as a Common Ground with My Ideal Prospect?”

Let’s get specific and talk about 4 criteria you MUST have in your front-end product if you want to

A. attract high quality prospects,

B. make mountains of NOW income off even the prospects who don’t join right away.

HIGH DEMAND:

* You’re statistically more likely to sell information on how to solve a problem than to actually sell the solution (eg, more people will read a book on how good nutrition helps control joint pain than are prepared to buy and use an advanced nutrition product).

* More people are looking for how to cure joint pain than people looking for a product by name.

* Attracts a lot of qualified prospects, giving you a large audience for your
product or business pitch = more income.

* Higher conversion ratio of prospects into buyers (big problem => bigger need for an immediate solution) = faster income.

INEXPENSIVE:

* Higher conversion ratio - people find it easier to part with $20-$50 than $200 or $2,000, especially their first time buying from you = front-end income

* You want more people to buy the ’sampler’ front-end product because it creates trust and repeat sales = front-end + back-end income

SOLD AUTOMATICALLY:

* This keeps it simple for new distributors who have no sales experience. The system sells for them, they only need to master
advertising to begin with.

* Leverages your time because the front-end product is sold around the clock, qualifying prospects for you. That way you’re only spending time talking to the ones willing to take action now — not the tyre-kickers.

RELATED TO PRIMARY BUSINESS:

* Every lead, whether they join your biz or not is a lead that raised their hand to say they are interested in your expertise. So you make sales of related products and services too = more front-end + back-end income.

* Build your business by enrolling whoever qualifies for your time = front-end + back-end + fast-start + passive + leveraged income.

As a result, you hit two birds with one stone. You generate leads and you create cashflow. Hello self-funding leads!

The good news is that Lead Traffic Jam does most of this relationship building for you. You will only speak to prospects when they call you.

In a couple of days I’ll show you exactly how.
